LADY GAGA BORN THIS WAY FOUNDATION by Jorge Lam

Led by Lady Gaga and her mother Cynthia Germanotta, the Born This Way Foundation was founded in 2011 to foster a more accepting society, where differences are embraced and individuality is celebrated. The Foundation is dedicated to creating a safe community that helps connect young people with the skills and opportunities they need to build a kinder, braver world.

"We believe that everyone has the right to feel safe, to be empowered and to make a difference in the world. Together, we will move towards acceptance, bravery and love." -Lady Gaga.

The Three Pillars of the Born This Way Foundation are:

SAFETY: Creating a safe, useful place to celebrate individuality.

SKILLS: Teaching advocacy, promoting civic engagement, and encouraging self-expression.

OPPORTUNITY: Identifying ways to implement solutions and impact local communities.

THE BORN BRAVE BUS

Gaga announced in May 2012 that the "Born Brave Bus" would follow her on tour as a youth drop-in center as an initiative against bullying and homophobia. There, men and women of all ages could go and look around, share their stories and meet other people.

A BODY REVOLUTION

In September 2012, Lady Gaga launched a new project called A Body Revolution 2013 to address poor body image and body acceptance, in part, because media outlets had negatively remarked on supposed weight gains by the performer.

To start the project she posted pictures of herself in underwear and asked others to follow her lead stating "May we make our flaws famous, and thus redefine the heinous."
